View Full Version : Vortech bottom distributor plate
http://www.enpress.com/newproducts.html
Hi Folks,
I often have difficulty in that when I remove my Fleck valves I drag my riser tube up a couple of inches out of the media. I end up either having to cut of some of the riser tube or rebed. I'm intrigued by this distributor plate from Vortech (see link above). Any thoughts? Alternately I suppose I could lubricate the riser tube before inserting it into my valve? What do y'all do to prevent this problem and could this Vortech product be useful?
Thanks dfm

Always lubricate the distributor pilot o-ring with food-grade, NSF approved lubricant before assembling a system. Make sure that the riser has an outside chamfer on it.
When revalving a system - if the riser lifts up, you can either hydrojet it back in, or drain the water out, lay the system on its side and ease it in. If you use gravel underbedding, it is much less likely to lift up, but also nearly impossible to reseat if it does :D . I don't advocate gravel underbedding on residential softening systems with 14" and smaller diameter tanks.
Firm, gentle pressure - no hammering or jarring - you'll destroy the lower distributor.
The Vortech is a great idea, we're using it on some of our products with good results so far. You have to buy it in the tank as a complete assembly though.
Hey Greg,
I was wondering if y'all are still using any Vortech bottom distributor plates?
Thanks, David

We still are on certain models. They work great, no failures at all to date.
My only complaint is long lead times. Other than that I'm completely satisfied.
