Goundwater with h2s and iron bacteria

My plumber says I have h2s in my water and iron bacteria. He wants to put a chlorineator on my well, but we irrigate alfalfa and feed our horses. Is there any other way to fix the water without feeding my horses pool water?

Do you just need to filter the water for the house ?
