dfm

As I've posted on another thread here, my water is finally looking great. But I did have a few hours after exchanging one of my valves where my water didn't look so good. First I thought I had failed to put one of my tanks online and triple checked the bypasses. Next, I figured I had just disturbed the beds of my tanks and so I backwashed everything thoroughly. Fortunately I noticed my flow light was not blinking on the new valve when water was flowing. At first I groaned and blamed the valve. Guess what? The valve should have had an error message saying "REVERSE FLOW: you hooked me up backwards dummy!"
Silly mistake one:
Forgetting to confirm that the in water is going in the IN hole and the out water is going out the OUT hole!
My only excuse is that in my crawlspace it is difficult to get above the valve to see the directional arrow. Also I have these great flexible unions from Falcon Stainless that make it easy to forget what goes where. Anybody have a more elementary mistake they have made? Oh, my wife was not too impressed when I told her the reason our water didn't look so good was because I'd installed my new valve backwards. dfm out
